Northwest Vietnamese food tastes best when you’ve made it yourself. At Mai Chau Hideaway Lake Resort, you join the resort’s chef to choose ingredients, prepare them and cook a meal full of mountain flavors, then sit down to eat it at the lakeside restaurant.
The class begins with cơm lam, sticky rice packed into bamboo tubes and roasted over glowing charcoal until fragrant. You and your group then cook many Northwest dishes using local ingredients such as Hoa Binh lake fish, Muong-style pork and seasonal village greens. While you cook, the chef shares stories about the ingredients and how the Thai and Muong communities here traditionally eat. At the end, everyone sits down to enjoy the dishes they have made together.
The class suits couples, families with young children, groups of friends and company teams. No cooking experience is needed, as the chef guides you step by step. Ingredients, aprons and the meal you cook are included in the price.
